Industrial Electrician I $25 – $30 h/r I 3pm – 11pm

Position Summary:
As our Maintenance Electrician, you'll take the lead in installing, setting up, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and components on specific machines and equipment. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring top-notch operation of machinery and equipment to maintain high production and quality standards. You'll be the go-to expert, diagnosing and swiftly repairing equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime, while also executing preventive maintenance when required. Effective communication with supervisory personnel regarding equipment issues will be a key component of your role.
Your day-to-day tasks will include but are not limited to the following:
- Install and repair electrical systems and components of industrial machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, using hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment.
- Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, following electrical code and blueprints.
- Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connect cable and wires between machines and equipment, following manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints.
- Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, fixtures, using test equipment, and replace damaged components, wires, and cables.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance to avoid unscheduled down time, by following blueprints, diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions and engineering specifications.
- Observe machines and equipment, analyze tests results, read machine error messages to diagnose equipment problems.
- Test faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test equipment or software, and applying knowledge of the functional operation of electrical/electronic units and systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions to ensure the machines and equipment are operating safely, correctly and expediently.
- Determine changes in the condition of electrical components, by inspecting used parts, and make necessary replacements or adjustments.
- Determine effectiveness of control instruments and make necessary adjustments.
- When necessary, send defective parts to the manufacturer or to a specialized repair shop for repair.
- Assist other maintenance personnel as may be required to ensure completion of necessary installation/repair.
- Maintain equipment, parts and supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies. Submit and expedite orders through the stockroom.
- Prepare electrical maintenance logs/reports/records by collecting, analyzing, summarizing formation and trends.
- Communicate with other Maintenance Electricians on other shifts regarding machine issues.
- Communicate and coordinate with appropriate parties to complete projects efficiently, timely and with minimal interference with production schedules.
- Follow housekeeping and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Maintain tools and equipment to ensure availability.
- Obtain and provide on the job training as needed to become increasingly knowledgeable with electrical repairs.
- Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use and follow Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge / Ability:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask while operating in a systematic/logical manner.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of Facilities equipment.
- Ability to operate machinery and screens as needed.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams and schematics.
- Familiarity with the metric system.
- Excellent knowledge of tools and machine repair practices.
- Knowledge of Variable Speed Motor Controllers.
- Experience –
- Prior machine maintenance experience preferred.
Requirements include:
- Teamwork, Coordination, Dependability.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
- Ability to work overtime and/or additional shift to meet production requirements.
