- Bachelor's or Advanced degree required
- Significant coursework or industry experience in software development
- A passion for code development and testing, solving complex engineering problems, and helping customers
- Strong critical thinking skills are required to isolate failures, identify remediation steps, and develop test plans and verification protocols.
- Design and code services, applications, and databases that are reusable, scalable, and meet critical business goals
- Able to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines, communicate progress on a timely basis, and respond to changing priorities when required
- Ability to pick up product and technical skills quickly and become productive
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
WHAT WILL YOUR SUCCESS LOOK LIKE?
As a Software Engineer – IBM i Developer you will collaborate closely with other developers to ensure the client’s computer applications support the business goals and operations. This includes maintaining the current programs and implementing new applications to keep the client as a technology leader in the industry. The IBM i Developer will be a detail-oriented thinker with creative problem-solving skills always looking to drive continuous improvement.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Analyze, design, code, test, and maintain complex software solutions on the IBM AS/400 iSeries platform
- Possess knowledge or familiarity with Modern RPG, RPGII, RPGLE, SQL, CL/CLLE, IBM Rational Software or related programs
- Programming for data entry, update/file maintenance, reports generation, and auto-generations of emails for customers and employees
- Generate ad-hoc or query reports using SQL
- Knowledge of GXS/TrustedLink EDI is a plus
- Working knowledge of IBM i operating system (OS/400) and applying PTF is a plus
- Knowledge of C# .NET, VB.NET, ASP.NET, and JavaScript utilizing Microsoft .NET framework is a plus
- Experience supporting IBM i including disk storage and both physical and virtual tape subsystems is a plus
- Experience maintaining and testing disaster recovery plans for the IBM i environment, QEDD a plus
- Evaluate code for efficiency, debugging, and quality assurance
- Create job schedulers that will automatically execute batch application programs hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly as needed
