An international manufacturer is seeking an Automation Technician to join their team. Work professionally with engineers and technicians to build, troubleshoot, install, and service their machines. This role will require working with engineers to interpret designs, and then bring the designs to life. You will study specifications & review models & drawings in SolidWorks in order to direct the team of technicians.
Automation Technician’s Responsibilities
- Organize and stage incoming materials from our machine shop, and outside vendors for the build. Calculate dimensions, tolerances, precision fits, alignments and clearances, and determine assembly methods for putting together the various components of our Custom Automated Machines.
- Assemble Machine Electrical Controls Panel and direct connection to internal components per prints.
- Build-up Machine Electrical Controls Panel (with power supplies, PLCs, relays, VFDs, breakers, motor controllers, vision system controllers, robot controllers, safety controllers etc.) per prints.
- Able to verify conformance of machined parts to drawing specifications and tolerances.
- Experience setting-up Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) with a laptop, Ladder Logic (LD) PLC software programming, Servo tuning, HMI set-up and testing also a plus.
- Responsible to lead machine assembly & integration effort, to test operation of all subsystems, and debug all systems to meet machine requirements for product quality and through-put rate goals.
Automation Technician’s Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years in mechanic, manufacturing, machinist environment and/or training; or equivalent
- Station-to-station part position repeatable alignment with various tooling to perform sequential precision operations on parts
- level of proficiency programming VFDs, tuning servo drives, and programming PLCs with ladder diagrams (LD)
- Ability to work with basic high school math concepts.
- Able to measure parts accurately with machine tools such as calipers, micrometers, etc.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
