Job Description
The Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of specific projects, ensuring the accurate reporting of project-related financials, monitoring budgets, and collaborating with project teams. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that projects meet their financial objectives, comply with accounting standards, and align with company goals. The Project Accountant also works closely with project managers to analyze project costs, profitability, and cash flow.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze project financial reports, including cost-to-complete estimates, variance analysis, and profitability assessments.
- Monitor and report on project financial performance, including revenue recognition and cash flow management.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes by ensuring accurate and timely project financial reporting.
- Review and approve project invoices prepared by Billing Specialists, ensuring compliance with contract terms and accuracy in billing.
- Create and maintain the billing assignments and schedule for the Billing Specialists to meet internal and external deadlines
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, with a focus on project accounting or cost accounting.
- Proficient in Architectural or Engineering billing processes, with a strong preference for experience in public project billing.
- Deep knowledge of project accounting principles, financial analysis, and cost control.
- Familiarity with GAAP and industry-specific accounting standards.
- Proficiency with financial software (e.g., Deltek, Ajera, SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems).
- High school Diploma (required).
- Associates Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

If you are hired, your base salary will be determined based on factors such as individual skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. In addition, we also believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth
