5 Tips to Simplify Your Recruiting Process

Post by:The Reserves Network July 30, 2020

Recruiting can be difficult, even more so in these challenging times. Whether you are a full-time recruiter, or if it is one of your many responsibilities, the hiring process can be demanding. Luckily, there are ways to simplify the process and find the quality candidates you’re looking for.

In honor of National Simplify Your Life Week, here are five tips from The Reserves Network to make the search process easier.

Keep current resumes on file and organized.

As a recruiter or hiring professional, you most likely receive a lot of resumes. Organize your filing system (color coding can be a life saver) in order to easily locate each resume when you need it.  Or, upload the resumes you receive to your applicant tracking system (ATS) to pull from in the future.

Keeping track of resumes as they come in, rather than disregarding them, provides you a candidate database you can go to first when trying to fill an opening.

Don’t complicate the job description.

If job seekers have to sift through industry jargon or vague descriptions, they will lose interest in the job itself. Create job descriptions that are clear and to the point. Applicants want to know exactly what they will be doing at the job and why they are doing it.

Be sure to explain what is in it for the candidate, not just for your company. Why should they want to work for you? What benefits are offered?

Make it easy for candidates to apply.

If the application process takes too long, you could lose quality candidates who drop off mid-process. Create a “quick apply” option on your website, which is essentially a shortened version of your application, for candidates to quickly send in their information and resume.

If you really want to go the extra mile, make yourself available to assist candidates in submitting their application, whether that’s via phone or in-person appointment. Remember: the more user-friendly the process, the more likely you’ll see an increase in applicants.

Utilize the technology available to you.

Depending on where you are currently sourcing candidates, take advantage of all the bells and whistles the platform has to offer you. For example, many job boards have alert systems that notify you when a candidate with skill sets you are looking for posts their resume.

Consider using mail merge or letter templates when reaching out to multiple candidates for the same position. Always be on the look out for new software that can streamline the hiring process, like virtual interviewing or group sharing platforms.

Work with a staffing firm.

If you have roles that are difficult to fill, or if you have an ongoing need, a staffing partner can be your best friend. Finding the right talent is their full-time job. They will have resources to expedite the hiring process, saving you time and money.

Let The Reserves Network be your new friend. We love staffing and can help you simplify your recruiting efforts to improve the quality of new hires and achieve your goals. Contact us today to learn more.
