Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to manage and oversee grant expenditures throughout their full lifecycle. This role is responsible for budget monitoring, financial tracking, and reimbursement processing for grants within the Housing & Community Development sector.
Responsibilities:
- Process & Reconcile Transactions – Handles budget transfers, journal entries, and reconciles financial data for accuracy.
- Grant & Reimbursement Support – Assists in preparing reimbursement requests and ensures compliance with grant budgets.
- Financial Tracking & Documentation – Maintains financial records, tracks project expenditures, and ensures proper documentation.
- Collaboration & Coordination – Works with internal departments, auditors, and purchasing teams to manage financial operations.
- Procurement & Vendor Management – Oversees purchases, invoice processing, and vendor credit/debit memos to ensure compliance.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of job/project ledger accounting and budgeting and its correlation to the general ledger
- Thorough working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for governmental and not-for-profit entities
- Experience with Excel; Pivot Tables and V-Lookup functions and other accounting systems; preferably PeopleSoft
- Familiarity with grant and fund accounting is highly desirable
