- Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before the examination.
- Sterilize dental instruments properly.
- Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history.
- Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries, or periodontitis.
- Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g., remove plaque or apply fluoride)
- Assist dentists with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases (including oral cancer)
- A diploma in Dental Hygiene is required; a Master’s degree is a plus.
- A current and Valid License to practice dental hygiene is required.
- Three (3) years of minimum as a Dental Hygienist is required.
- Must have experience in preparing dental instruments and equipment.
- Understanding of health & safety regulations i.e., HIPAA
