Job Description
Play a pivotal role in this great company when you step into the position of Design Engineer. Engage in design activities concerning the company's electric substation, transmission line, and generation equipment control systems to ensure paramount reliability and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Specify substation equipment, ensuring alignment with substation ratings like bus, ground mat, conduit, switches, power circuit breakers, transformers, relay panels, and more.
- Design protective relay systems, metering, and SCADA in compliance with standards, past projects, regulations, and system requirements.
- Conduct thorough analysis and gather system ratings by researching substation current conditions and configurations to provide essential data to reporting agencies and meet new system requirements.
- Create detailed system protection and control project scopes and cost estimates aiding in multi-year project and budget planning.
- Prepare and study technical drawings and specifications of electrical systems, ensuring that installations and operations conform to established standards and codes.
- Collaborate with designers and technicians, reviewing work and monitoring progress to ensure adherence to safety and regulations.
- Produce and review detailed system protection and control project bills of material, cable schedules, and other project documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to the company's design philosophy.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Preferably have utility experience directly related to electric substation, generation, and transmission line equipment control and fault protection systems.
- Possess a strong foundation in basic engineering principles and advanced mathematics.
- Have the ability to understand schematic, wiring, and logic diagrams.
- Show capability in developing elementary drawings related to system protection designs.
- Prove to be dependable, self-motivated, detail-oriented with excellent organizational and proofreading skills.
- Exhibit effective communication skills and the ability to work harmoniously with other company personnel.
- Have prior experience with AutoCAD and drawing or document management systems like VAULT.

The Pay Rate range for this position is $44 – $65 per hour, excluding benefits. Your final Pay Rate will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
