Job Description
The Trucking Dispatcher plans the daily/weekly work schedule of drivers to maximize freight coverage in a timely and cost-efficient manner. Communicates and distributes appointment dates and times to drivers. Assists with any equipment issues, detention time, rail billing, and any other requests made by drivers (ex., bring seals, must have tanker endorsement, etc.)
Key responsibilities of this function are to provide exceptional support to our drivers, be quick to respond to questions and troubleshooting concerns, and to proactively monitor the movement of freight to ensure customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Cultivate and maintain a solid relationship with our valued independent contractors
- Ability to multitask and prioritize situations in a fast-paced environment
- Communicate with drivers to prioritize loads, define routes, and set schedules
- Monitor containers to prevent demurrage and storage fees
- Provide detailed instructions to various personnel via email and phone
- Communicate drive service failures
- Track and maintain private and pool equipment
- Actively participate in driver recruiting and retention
- Promote the company's core values and safety message
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Intermodal transportation experience (2-3 years) is strongly preferred
- Self-motivated problem-solver with a fervent desire to meet customer needs
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Ability to present and maintain a positive corporate image in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all support departments
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products, including. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule if needed
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, Hazardous Materials, and Comprehensive knowledge of Chicago-area rails and depots.

If you are hired, your base salary will be determined based on factors such as individual skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role.
