The Mitigation Specialist is responsible for responding to and managing water, fire, mold, and storm damage restoration projects. This position plays a critical role in minimizing property damage through timely and effective mitigation efforts. The Specialist will assess the scope of damage, execute restoration activities, and maintain high standards of service and safety.
- Quickly assess the extent of water, fire, mold, or storm damage and develop an effective plan of action.
- Respond to service calls promptly to mitigate damage in residential or commercial properties.
- Perform water extraction, structural drying, mold remediation, smoke and soot cleanup, debris removal, and other restoration tasks.
- Set up and maintain restoration equipment such as air movers, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers, and moisture meters.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including photographs, logs, and progress reports for clients and insurance adjusters.
- Keep clients informed about job progress, timelines, and expectations, while providing excellent customer service.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
- Work with team members, contractors, and other professionals involved in the restoration process.
- Previous experience in water/fire damage restoration, construction, or a related field (preferred).
- IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification) in Water Damage Restoration (WRT) or similar (preferred).
- Ability to operate mitigation equipment, strong problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks that require physical effort.
- Work may involve exposure to mold, smoke, water, and structural hazards.
