Job Description
Our Special Collections Department is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join the team. This role focuses on legal research, filing tax warrants and lawsuits, preparing reports, and making proactive collection calls to recover delinquent tax accounts. The Paralegal will collaborate with courts, banks, and firm clients while ensuring compliance with legal procedures. This position is ideal for a self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and has a background in legal or tax work.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and locate defendants
- Prepare and file tax warrants, lawsuits, and client reports
- Manage case files and update legal databases
- Make collection calls to recover delinquent tax accounts
- Communicate with court clerks, constables, banks, and clients
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong grammar, spelling, and communication skills
- Basic legal knowledge and analytical thinking
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently
- Paralegal certification (preferred)
- Prior experience in legal or tax collections (preferred)
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record (MVR background check required)
- Ability to travel up to 50% by vehicle

The base pay range for this position is $37,440–$37,440, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final compensation will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future growth.
