Job Description
As a Finance Specialist, you will support financial operations. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing payables, reconciling accounts, and preparing reports and documentation in accordance with GAAP and HUD requirements. The ideal candidate will bring attention to detail, a strong understanding of accounting principles, and a collaborative spirit.

Responsibilities
• Process housing assistance payments and reconcile landlord files
• Post tenant payments and adjustments, process utility and refund checks
• Review and process agency accounts payable and prepare year-end 1099 forms
• Perform monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and assist with financial statements
• Communicate with vendors, clients, and agencies regarding financial documentation
• Assist with annual budget preparation and audits
• Maintain petty cash, bank deposits, and fixed asset records
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings

Qualifications and Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting, including ledgers and reconciliations
• Proficiency in computerized accounting software
• Governmental accounting, real estate management, or HUD experience preferred

The base salary for this position is $20/hr., excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
