Trade Compliance Specialist
Salary Rate: $70K to 90K depending on experience
Location: Houston, TX 77051
Shift: Monday – Friday 8:00 to 5:00.

We are seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist in South Houston. The Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of international trade compliance for the enterprise. The role will ensure goods are properly exported, imported, and shipped in accordance with established corporate policies and procedures as well as US Customs Regulations and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

What you will be doing:
- Overall management of trade compliance program for the enterprise.
- Analyze import and export documentation for both outgoing and incoming shipments to ensure accuracy as well as overall compliance.
- Prepare necessary export documentation (SED, CI, P/L, Carnets etc.) ensuring compliance with US Government regulations as well as corporate policies.
- Track and report status of all exports to ensure smooth transactions and information back to the business. Provide Customs necessary documentation as required.
- Track and maintain records and reports of all imports.
- Support functional groups such as Customer Service, Business Development, Operations, Sales Administration, and Shipping regarding export and import of materials and products.
- Analyze customs duty exemptions and free trade agreements to reduce costs of shipments.
- Draft and monitor 232 Exclusions
- Other duties as assigned
What is Required:
- Demonstrates understanding of US Commerce’s Export Administration Regulations (EAR), HTS, 232/301 Tariffs, and applicable exemptions/exceptions
- Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends
- Ability to multi-task
- Demonstrates strong computer skills and proficiency using MS Office Applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AES filing and AES reporting
- Uses vision to think beyond the immediate situation, explore multiple potential paths, and adapt decision-making style based on the situational circumstances
- Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain internal and external trusting, professional relationships
- Assesses the degree of risk and opportunity in plans or actions and takes appropriate action to mitigate them or makes plans to build on the opportunity
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in business or related discipline or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience with the EAR, US Customs, HTS, Schedule B, etc.
- Experience dealing with freight forwarders, customs brokers, supply chain, purchasing, and logistics with previous experience in creating and reviewing export/import documents
- Customs Broker license preferred
Special Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship required and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance
- Occasionally required to travel within and outside the Continental U.S.
